You set the tempo; the app runs the beats. The solution stays sealed and hidden from you until the reveal.
Host controls live on the device that created the party. To run them from a second device, or to get them back if that one dies, enter the party code and the host key shown on the live host screen.
Guests can claim their character and read the public half of it. The evening has not started: no clock is running, no dossier is readable, nothing can be scanned.
Press this when people are actually in the room. It starts Phase 1 and unlocks everyone's dossier at once. Back to the lobby undoes it. If a character the mystery needs is still empty, this stops and tells you who.
Anyone with this can drive the party, so keep it to yourself. Write it down before the night: it is the only way back into host controls if this device dies.

Adding time to the phase with +5 min makes every turn still to come longer. Each turn is the table's whole window divided by everybody seated, so a longer phase means a bigger window and a bigger share each. It does not lengthen the turn happening now: that one was measured out when it was handed over and it keeps the length it was given.
Type a guest's name against a character. When they join with that name (capitals and extra spaces don't matter), they get that character. A first name on its own is enough unless two guests share it, in which case write both names. Anyone else is seated from what's left. Any flex characters can be used, in any order. Nothing here appears on the gallery screen.
If somebody has already joined and ended up with the wrong character, use the "move to" box on their row. Typing a name against a different character will not move them: once a guest holds a seat, that seat is theirs, which is what stops anybody being re-seated on the night. Their phone keeps working and shows the new character next time it refreshes.
Some characters are marked needed: the mystery cannot be solved unless each of them is played tonight, so make sure a guest is cast as every one of them. Open the doors stops and asks if any are still empty.
Phone died, or a guest turned up on a different phone? Every seat's code is on its row. Read it to them and they use Rejoining? on the new phone, or press New code to give that seat a fresh code: the old one stops working at once, and the character, private notes, record, marks, votes and 6:40 answer all carry over. It takes ten seconds and nothing is lost. If you are playing too and change phones, do the same for your own seat.
Remove takes a guest out of the party and opens the seat again. Use it when one person has signed up twice under two versions of their name, or when somebody drops out, not for a dead phone. Their old seat code stops working, and their vote and their 6:40 answer go with them. Private notes addressed to the character stay with the character and go to whoever takes it next, so removing a seat never breaks the mystery. They can always join again.
This is the one thing in the evening a person has to do out loud. Early in the third phase, ask the whole room: "Where were you at 6:40?" Every guest types their character's answer into the box at the top of their own phone. When most have answered, press Close. The app checks the answers privately and flags a contradiction to one person. Nobody else, including the host, is told who. It can only be closed during the third phase; with Run the night for me on, it closes itself a minute before that phase ends.
Unlocks in Phase 6, once the final vote has closed. It plays on the gallery screen for everyone.
Five awards the room votes on once the reveal has played: best liar, first one you suspected, most 1989, should have been a detective, best costume. Open them with the button and everyone votes on their own phone, for somebody other than themselves.
The winners appear on the room screen, each with the character name and the real first name, so you know whose hand to put a gift card in. A tie shows every tied name rather than picking one. Nobody sees who voted for whom, you included.
When you are ready, announce them. That closes the voting and the room screen walks the five awards one at a time, title first and then the name, with about fifteen seconds on each winner to hand the card over. Best liar goes last. Skip ahead whenever the room has finished reacting.
This clears the host controls from this browser. The party keeps running. To get back in you need the party code and the host key above, so write both down first.
